Part 5: Building a Kids 20inch Full Suspension MTB
Bottom Bracket
After taking the bottom bracket out to get the frame painted it kind of deteriorated. I ordered a new Shimano BBUN55 Square Bottom Bracket. However I couldn’t get it to fit in the frame, thinking the frame might have been a bit over painted I took it too Cardiff Training Wales who installed it for me.
Crank
After installing the new chain I noticed the crank was bent. So I ordered a new one but opted for a Trek 20″ Kids Crank which come with a 2 hole pedal choice either under 7’s (120mm) or over (140mm).

Pedals
I wanted to use DMR Pedals as I’ve used them on both my bikes and they are brilliant, however they where a little bit too big. I also wanted some different coloured ones, but couldn’t find any of decent quality so I ordered some Cube HPP Pedals and I think they look really smart:

Colour Outer Cables
As this is a kids bike we need to make it fun so I ordered some coloured JagWire outer cables. I went for neon pink on my daughters bike and yellow on my sons. I think they look epic.

Handlebar grips
Again another issue was finding decent kids handlebar grips. I wanted something with a bit of colour and a shorter size than the adult ones. The only ones I found that worked well are Reverse Youngstar Single Lock-On Bike Grips Children 28mm 98mm as seen in above picture.
